Murwara Arched Wall Mirror - Antique Brass

The Murwara is an arched wall mirror, 102cm tall and 91cm wide, set in a narrow flat frame cast in aluminium and finished in antique brass. The sides run straight up from square lower corners and turn into one semicircular arch across the top. The frame sits close to the glass, with a thin dark reveal between the two. Its brass tone is uneven along the band, paler where the surface catches the light and darker in the hollows, and the joins between the cast sections are visible on the face.

At 102 x 91cm the proportions are set against a standard mantelpiece, and it hangs equally above a wooden console table. The same size works over a sideboard in a dining room, or above a console in a hallway. Because it is close to square rather than tall and narrow, it fills the width above a chimney breast. The glass is plain rather than antiqued, so it returns a true reflection at the height it is hung.

The frame is cast aluminium under an antique brass finish and the glass is plain mirror, 3cm deep overall. It hangs portrait, taller than it is wide. The Murwara range also holds full length mirrors, an arched mirror set with antique glass, and a plain wall mirror in a small and a large.
