Description

The Murané wall and ceiling light is a single globe of Smoke Grey glass, 15cm across, set against a small dome in Brushed Champagne. The glass has a rippled, dimpled surface that catches and bends the light, so the globe looks a little different from every angle, lit or unlit. Inside is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 4W and gives 167 lumens at 2700K, a warm white, with a CRI of 90, so skin tones, wood and fabrics keep their true colour. It is a soft, decorative glow rather than a working light.

It fits on a ceiling or on a wall, either surface-mounted or partially recessed, with a projection of 18.2cm. On a wall it suits a hallway, a landing or a stairwell, and a pair either side of a bed makes a calm alternative to bedside lamps. On a ceiling it lights a walk-in wardrobe or a small study gently. In a living room or dining room, use it to add warm points of light alongside your main lighting. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only, and it is not dimmable, so it goes on a standard switch rather than a dimmer.

The globe is Smoke Grey glass with a rippled, uneven surface, and the shallow dome behind it carries the Brushed Champagne finish, a soft, pale gold with a fine brushed grain. Together they sit comfortably with warm timber, natural stone and both light and dark walls. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in, so it is for a qualified electrician to install, whether you choose the surface-mounted or the partially recessed fixing.
