Description

The Murané is a wall and ceiling light built around a single pink glass sphere, 15cm across, set against a domed mount in a brushed champagne finish. The glass has a rippled, wavy surface, so the sphere glows with gentle movement rather than as a flat ball of colour. Inside is a 4W integrated LED giving 167 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, so there is no bulb to buy or change. With a colour rendering index of 90, skin tones, timber and fabrics look true and natural beneath it.

It fits on a ceiling or on a wall, surface-mounted or partially recessed. It stands 18.2cm out from the surface, which makes it a good choice where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway, a landing, a stairwell or a low-ceilinged bedroom. On a wall, we like a pair either side of a bed or a run along a corridor for a soft, warm rhythm of light. On a ceiling, it adds a small warm glow to a dressing room, snug or study. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. At 167 lumens it is an accent and mood light rather than the main light for a large room.

The mount is finished in brushed champagne, a soft, pale gold tone that sits easily beside the pink glass and with warm woods, cream walls and pale stone. The fitting runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician. It is not dimmable, so it simply switches on and off at full output. Before you choose a spot, check the space it needs: the sphere is 15cm across and the light comes 18.2cm out from the wall or ceiling, so allow room for it beside door frames and on narrow landings.
