Description

The Murané is a wall and ceiling light made of a single sphere of Forest Green glass, 15cm across, set against a Brushed Champagne back plate shaped like a shallow cone. The glass has a rippled, wavy surface that bends the light into soft patterns instead of a flat, even glow, and the green reads clear and fresh rather than dark. Inside is an integrated LED of 4W giving 167 lumens of warm white light at 2700K, with a CRI of 90, so wood, fabric and skin tones look true. Because the LED is integrated, it needs no bulb.

Since it fits on a ceiling or on a wall, the Murané is just as happy lighting a landing or a hallway as sitting beside a bed or either side of a doorway. At 167 lumens it gives a gentle, decorative light rather than a bright working one, so we see it adding a glow to a corner, marking a corridor at night or making a pair above a sideboard, with a main light doing the heavier work. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only: living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, halls and studies. It is not dimmable, so it suits a plain on and off switch.

It fixes to the wall or ceiling either surface-mounted or partially recessed, and it runs on 230V mains, wired in, so it is one for a qualified electrician to install. The Brushed Champagne finish has a soft, low sheen and a fine brushed grain that sits warmly beside the green of the glass, and the cone-shaped plate keeps the sphere held out clear of the surface. One practical note before you choose a spot: the light projects 18.2cm from the wall or ceiling, so allow for that beside a door that swings open or along a narrow passage where people pass close by.
