Description

The Murané pendant light is a sphere of Caramel glass, 18cm across, hung on a fine cable from a small cap in a Brushed Champagne finish. The glass has a rippled, gently uneven surface that catches the light and scatters it softly through the warm Caramel colour, so the sphere glows rather than glares. Inside sits an integrated LED, which means there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives 167lm of light at 2700K, a warm white suited to evenings, with a CRI of 90, so the colours of food, fabric and skin look natural. The LED draws 2.7W or 4W, depending on the version.

We think it sits most happily in a dining room or a living room. Hung on its own over a dining table, a sideboard or a reading corner, it gives a soft, warm glow, and the cable allows a drop of up to 300cm, so it suits high ceilings as well as ordinary ones. It comes in two versions: with canopy, for a single pendant with its own ceiling fitting, or without canopy, for multi-pendant canopies (sold separately), where several pendants hang from one shared canopy to make a cluster over a long table. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The version with canopy comes with a canopy 5.5cm across and 13cm tall, which neatly covers the connection at the ceiling. The 24V DC version needs a remote 24V DC driver, sold separately and not included, which supplies the pendant with its power; without it, that version will not light. The Brushed Champagne finish on the cap is a soft, warm tone that sits comfortably with the Caramel glass. It runs on 230V mains power and is wired in by a qualified electrician, so it is worth settling on the drop and the position over your table before the visit.
