Description

The Mossgrove twisted pendant spreads six arms across 855mm, each holding a twisted clear glass shade above a brushed aged brass frame. The spiral worked into the glass catches the light and gives the fitting more depth than plain glass would manage. Six G9 LED capsules at 5W each light it, and the drop adjusts between 500mm and 800mm. At 1.7kg it is remarkably light for its width, which keeps the fixing simple for a ceiling light of this span.

Wide but shallow is a useful shape. It covers a dining table or a broad entrance hall the way a chandelier would, without hanging so deep that it dominates a room with an ordinary ceiling height. Six lamps at low wattage spread light right across the width, so the corners of a table are as well lit as the centre, and that even spread is what stops a wide fitting from leaving the ends of a long table dark. It is not dimmable, so wire it to a standard switch and choose warm white lamps if you want the brass to read softly. We would hang it over a table, where its width has something to sit above.

The arms and gallery are metal in brushed aged brass, a matt and gently darkened finish that shows fingerprints far less than polished brass. The glass shades unscrew for washing in warm water; dry them fully before refitting. G9 capsules run hot, so let them cool and handle them with a cloth rather than bare fingers. Rated IP20, it is an indoor fitting for dry rooms. A matching Mossgrove wall light carries two of the same shades, and the pendant is also made in a twelve light version.
