Description

A set of four Christmas tree shapes cut flat from iron and finished in antique brass, each 8.5cm tall, 3.5cm across and 0.6cm front to back. The silhouette steps out and in as it falls, tier over tier, and finishes in a short rectangular trunk. The finish is not even: it is pale gold across the flat faces, darker in mottled patches, and brighter again along the cut edges. Each tree hangs from a knotted sari tie.

Hung from a bare branch, the cut edges pick up the light and the faces stay matt. At 0.1kg for the set they are light enough for a thin branch, and the slim profile means each one sits against a branch rather than swinging clear of it. Four is enough to space around a small tree or to hang along a mantelpiece garland.

Every shape is cut by hand from iron and given an antique brass effect, so the mottling falls differently on each of the four. The ties are cut from reclaimed sari fabric, so no two patterns are alike. Mishti also runs at 13cm, four to a set.
