Description

A ring of small matt glass baubles 20cm across, packed several deep around the frame so that almost none of it shows. The colours run teal, deep red, ochre, olive and brown, and every bauble is mottled rather than even, so the ring reads as texture before it reads as colour. The open centre is small against the mass of glass around it. It hangs from a twisted sari tie in mixed colours, knotted at the top.

It weighs 1.05kg. Twenty centimetres is small for a wreath, which suits an internal door, the face of a cupboard or a wall above a mantel rather than a wide front door, and it is for indoor use only in any case.

The baubles are recycled glass. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown, which is what leaves the irregular mottling on every one. The tie is recycled sari fabric, cut from a different length each time, so no two wreaths are alike. Oko also runs a 150cm garland of the same mini baubles, and a set of twelve in a star shape.
