Description
The Minerva is a 68cm flush chandelier fitted with ten G9 bulb holders arranged around a brushed nickel canopy, with cascading metal chain drapes creating a gathered curtain effect below the ceiling. Each chain strand hangs in a looped arc, layering over the neighbouring strands to diffuse light from the ten bulbs outward and downward through the metalwork.
Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.6m where a traditional suspended chandelier would hang too low, the Minerva mounts flush against the ceiling with a 50-60cm drop from canopy to lowest chain point. This makes it suitable for master bedrooms, dining rooms in period flats with lower ceilings, and entrance halls where a decorative fitting is needed without sacrificing headroom. The ten G9 sockets take standard halogen or LED capsule bulbs up to 10W each (bulbs sold separately), giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and output.
The nickel finish on the canopy and chain gives a cool grey-silver tone that pairs with both warm and cool interior palettes. At 10.22kg the fitting requires secure mounting into a ceiling joist or solid substrate — gravity toggles are supplied for plasterboard ceilings where a joist is not directly accessible. The chain drapes are pre-assembled on the canopy and the entire assembly lifts into position as one piece during installation, with the canopy then fixed to the ceiling rose.
The layered chain construction creates a textured play of light and shadow across the ceiling and upper walls when the bulbs are on, rather than delivering concentrated task light. This makes the Minerva a decorative ambient fitting first, with functional illumination as a secondary role. Rooms using the Minerva typically benefit from additional task lighting (table lamps, floor lamps, under-cabinet lighting) for reading and detailed work.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling height is needed for the Minerva?
The fitting has a 50-60cm drop from the ceiling. For comfortable clearance in a room used by people, a ceiling height of 2.3m or above is recommended. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Minerva in spaces where headroom beneath the fitting is not critical, such as above a bed or dining table.
What bulbs does it take?
The Minerva takes ten G9 capsule bulbs up to 10W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit LED G9 bulbs between 3-6W in warm white (2700-3000K) for ambient lighting without excessive glare through the chain.
Is it dimmable?
Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs you fit. LED G9 bulbs marked as dimmable will work with compatible LED dimmer switches. Standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker if connected to a dimmer circuit.
How is the weight supported on a plasterboard ceiling?
The fitting weighs 10.22kg and must be fixed into a ceiling joist or solid substrate for safe installation. Gravity toggles are supplied for plasterboard ceilings where a joist is not accessible at the desired mounting position, but the toggles must be rated to carry at least 15kg to provide adequate safety margin.
