Description

This three-piece stoneware dinner set for children brings together a cup, a bowl and a plate, each painted by hand and multicoloured, with a little cat raised from the surface. On the plate the cat peeps over a band of stripes beneath a scatter of hearts; on the cup and the bowl it strolls round the side in a striped jumper, hearts dotted all round it. The cup is 7cm tall and 7cm across, a size suited to small hands. The bowl is 14cm across and 4cm tall, right for cereal, yoghurt or a portion of pasta, and the plate is 17cm across, a child's dinner plate size. The whole set weighs 0.68KG.

We see it as the everyday set for a family kitchen: cereal or porridge in the bowl, toast or a sandwich on the plate, and milk or juice in the cup. Because the three pieces match, a child can lay a place of their own at the table and know which one is theirs. It is just as at home at a weekend tea party or a birthday spread, and it makes a cheerful gift for a birthday or any small celebration.

Every piece is 100% stoneware, a dense ceramic fired hard, so it feels solid in the hand. The cats are embossed, standing proud of the surface for little fingers to trace, and all the decoration is painted by hand, so small differences in the brushwork give each set its own character. Care is simple: everything goes in the dishwasher and can go in the microwave to warm a meal, though none of it is for the oven. For a tidy shelf, stack the bowl on the plate with the cup beside them, then bring all three out together so the cat greets a child at every meal.
