Description

This is a small stoneware bowl, 14.5cm across and 5cm tall, holding 300ml and finished in a vivid reactive glaze of green. Inside, the glaze gathers into a deeper pool at the centre and breaks into a speckled, crackled pattern as it climbs the walls; outside, the body steps down in a series of shallow ridges towards the base. A reactive glaze moves and settles during firing, so no two bowls finish quite alike, and yours will carry its own markings. Stoneware is dense and hard wearing, a sound choice for a bowl in daily use.

At 300ml it is a small bowl rather than a cereal bowl: right for olives, nuts or crisps with drinks, a dip or a sauce beside the main plate, a side of pickles or a modest helping of dessert. Set a few along a dining table for sharing plates, or keep one by the sofa for snacks on a film night. Away from the table, it also works as a dish for rings and earrings on a dressing table, or for keys by the front door.
