Description

A pair of clear gin glasses in recycled glass. Each one is a round balloon bowl carried on a slim stem with a flat disc foot, 18cm tall, 12cm across the bowl and holding 600ml. Two rows of long pointed ovals are cut into the middle of the bowl, one above and one below a pair of fine incised lines, and the cutting is done by hand. In clear glass the ovals read as narrow bright slivers against the wall of the bowl.

600ml is a large measure and the bowl is wide, so ice and a garnish sit in it without the drink reaching the rim. The glass is clear, so whatever is poured shows through the wall and the cut ovals take the light from behind it. At 18cm the glass stands over the rest of a laid table, and the disc foot is flat and wide, so it holds steady on a tray.

The glass is recycled and the pattern is cut into it by hand, so the ovals fall a little differently on each glass. Both are dishwasher safe and foodsafe. The Mila range covers decanters, wine glasses, champagne glasses and tumblers as well as these, in dark emerald as well as clear.
