Mila Etched Recycled Glass Decanter - Clear

A decanter 28cm tall and 12cm across the base, holding a litre. The body is conical, widest at the foot and drawing in to a rounded shoulder, then a plain straight neck that finishes in a flared collar. The lower half is cut with fine vertical lines in two tiers, a shorter band above and a longer one running down to the foot, with a plain ring of glass between them. A solid glass ball on a short shank stops the neck. The glass is clear with a green cast that gathers where it thickens, at the foot and round the collar.

A litre is a bottle of wine with a little over, or water for a table of four. At 28cm the decanter stands well above the glasses around it. The cut lines cover the half of the body that the hand goes round when it is poured. The stopper is taken out by the ball.

The glass is recycled and the detailing on the lower body is etched. The lines are uneven in depth and do not all run to the same length, so the band ends in a ragged edge rather than a level one and the light breaks down the body instead of running smooth. The decanter is food safe. No glasses are included.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown or placed in moulds.

What is the etched detail?

Fine vertical lines cut into the lower half of the body in two tiers, with a plain ring of glass between them. The depth varies from line to line.

How is it cleaned?

Hand wash only. Use a mild dish soap, rinse it in fresh water and let it dry naturally. Handle it with care.
