The 82x82mm footprint matches standard 1-gang metal clad box dimensions, and the 4mm projection sits flush with typical metal clad switch and socket installations.

Designed for workshops, garages, industrial units, agricultural buildings and outdoor installations where metal clad wiring systems are used, the blanking plate provides a safe, finished cover over empty back boxes. What is a blanking plate used for?

A blanking plate covers an empty back box where an electrical outlet was removed, or where a back box was installed for future use but never fitted with a switch or socket. It provides a safe, finished cover that prevents accidental contact with internal wiring or debris entering the box.

Does this fit standard metal clad boxes?

Yes. The 82x82mm dimensions match standard 1-gang metal clad back boxes. The plate fixes using two screws through the corner mounting holes, the same as metal clad switches and sockets.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

The IP20 rating means the plate is suitable for dry indoor locations only. For outdoor installations or areas subject to water ingress, use a metal clad product with a higher IP rating such as IP66 or IP67.

Does the plate provide an earth connection?
