Description

The Mercury AMD08 is an 8-way VHF/UHF distribution amplifier with separate VHF and UHF inputs, delivering 20dB gain on the full output and 8dB gain per split across eight individual outputs. The unit accepts VHF signals from 47-230MHz and UHF signals from 470-694MHz, with an integrated 5G/4G LTE filter blocking mobile signal interference before amplification. A DC pass function allows satellite control signals to pass through for Magic Eye remote extenders.

Designed for multi-room TV and radio distribution in residential and light commercial installations, the AMD08 takes a single aerial signal and distributes it to up to nine outputs (eight individual plus one full-gain output for cascading to additional distribution equipment). The side-mounted terminals simplify cable management in cabinet or wall-mounted installations, while the coaxial socket connections accept standard F-type connectors (four F-type adaptors included).

The fully screened metal housing blocks external interference and works with Digital Terrestrial (Freeview), satellite systems, cable TV, and DAB/FM radio signals. The low-noise wideband amplifier maintains a noise figure below 3.8dB, while surge and short-circuit protection with a maximum 87dBuV output limiter prevents damage to downstream equipment. The 75-ohm impedance matches standard UK aerial and distribution cabling. At 270 x 70 x 45mm and 500g, the unit mounts discreetly in loft spaces, cupboards or AV cabinets.

What's the difference between the individual outputs and the full gain output?

The eight individual outputs each deliver 8dB gain and are designed for connecting directly to TVs or radios. The full gain output delivers 20dB and is typically used to cascade into another distribution amplifier or booster when more than eight outputs are needed.

Does it work with Freeview and satellite signals?

Yes. The amplifier works with Digital Terrestrial (Freeview), satellite, cable TV, and DAB/FM radio signals. The separate VHF and UHF inputs allow terrestrial aerial signals to be connected independently, while the DC pass supports satellite Magic Eye remote extenders.

What does the LTE filter do?

The integrated 5G/4G LTE filter blocks interference from mobile phone signals before amplification. This prevents picture break-up or signal dropout caused by nearby mobile phone masts transmitting in adjacent frequency bands.

What cable connections does it use?

The amplifier uses coaxial socket connections compatible with standard F-type plugs. Four F-type adaptors are included in the box to convert the sockets for use with traditional coax plugs if needed.
