Description

A lumbar cushion cover 80cm wide and 35cm high, made up in cotton velvet on the front with a natural linen reverse. The velvet is eucalyptus, a muted green. The edge is a flange rather than a piped or plain seam, so a flat border of fabric runs right round outside the seam and lies loose against whatever the cushion is put on.

The long low shape is what a lumbar cover is for: it goes across the small of the back in a deep sofa, or along the front of a bank of pillows on a bed. At 80cm wide and 35cm high it lies down rather than standing up, so it does not block the back of a chair the way a square cover does. The linen reverse gives a plainer face to turn to.

The front is cotton velvet and the back is natural linen. The cover is 1cm through and weighs 0.38kg. The Menmai lumbar cover is also made in cream, cinnamon and dusty pink, and the range runs to a square 50 by 50cm cover in four colours.
