Medium Giant Glass Bauble - Antique Gold

A glass bauble 20cm across, weighing 0.7kg. The glass is antique gold, mirror-bright over the top half and mottled matt across the bottom, and a pale grey leaf and scroll pattern is worked over the whole surface. A domed metal cap sits at the top with a ring through it, and a ribbon tie is threaded through the ring.

Twenty centimetres is a window bauble more than a tree one. Hung on its own from a hook it reads across a room, and against a dark ground the mirrored half throws the light back while the matt half holds it. On a tree it wants a low inner branch rather than a tip.

The glass is recycled: waste glass collected, washed, crushed and melted down before it is blown or moulded again. The cap is brass. Each bauble is finished by hand, so the boundary between the mirrored and matt halves falls differently on every one.
