Description

The Mediterrània S/52 is a pendant light with a wide shade in Cream Translucent Ribbon. The shade rises and falls in soft waves around a single light and hangs from a white flared stem. It is 52cm across and 14.5cm high, finely pleated from its centre out to its rippled edge, with a small white globe at its heart. It runs on an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change: 10W gives 509 lumens of warm 2700K light with a CRI of 90, which keeps the colours of timber, fabric and food true. The fitting has an overall height of 200cm, and the canopy at the ceiling is 7cm across.

We see it first over a dining table, where the wide, low shade spreads a soft pool of warm light across the meal and the people around it. It suits a living room just as well, hung over a coffee table or beside an armchair in a reading corner. Because the ribbon is translucent, the shade itself glows gently when the light is on, so it looks warm even from across the room. It is TRIAC dimmable, so on a compatible dimmer you can bring it down low for a quiet evening and turn it up for dinner. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms indoors only.

The structure is iron and aluminium, finished in white, a clean partner for the cream of the shade. The design is by Alex Fernández Camps, who gave the ribbon its loose, rippling line. It is a 230V mains fitting, Class I, and it is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician.
