Description

The Mayla is a rectangular cushion cover, 60cm wide and 40cm tall, handwoven from linen with a little cotton through it. The face is worked in three vertical panels: a looped, nubby weave down each side and a flatter, smoother panel through the middle. Fine black lines are stitched across all three at regular intervals, so each line runs the full width of the cover rather than stopping at a panel edge.

A 60 by 40 cover is a lumbar size, made to sit in front of the larger squares rather than behind them. On a pale or neutral sofa the black lines are the only dark note on the cover. It works the same way at the head of a bed or in the corner of a window seat. The colour is a greyish oatmeal close to undyed linen.

The cover is linen with a little cotton through it, handwoven, and the black lines are stitched by hand. The edges are plain seams with no piping or trim. The inner is not included. The Mayla range also holds a 50 by 50 square cover and a throw at 140 by 200cm.
