Description

The Maxi S/01 is a tall pendant light from our Maxi range: a long, tapered column of White Translucent Ribbon, pleated into fine vertical folds and banded at intervals down its length. An integrated LED lights it from within, so the whole shade glows through the ribbon and there is no bulb to buy or fit. Its metalwork is iron and brass, it runs at 230V, and it hangs on a maximum drop of 280cm, long enough to bring the light well down from the ceiling. We sell it in two versions, Bottom installation, with switch, and Upper installation, and the choice settles how it is powered.

The Upper installation version is wired in to the mains by an electrician and hangs from the ceiling like any fixed pendant. The Bottom installation, with switch version plugs in, with cable lengths of 40cm and 200cm, and has its own switch; its power comes in at the bottom of the shade, so it can light a corner without any new wiring. In a living room, either version makes a tall column of light beside a sofa or in a bare corner. In a dining room, one on its own or a row of them gives a long, soft glow over the table. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The shade is White Translucent Ribbon, gathered into close pleats, and the metalwork is iron and brass. It is a Class II fitting, which means it is double insulated. The Upper installation version is for a qualified electrician to install; the Bottom installation, with switch version needs no electrician, as it plugs in. On the practical side, decide first whether you want a fixed ceiling light or one that plugs in, then check your ceiling height against the 280cm maximum drop before you order. The Bottom installation, with switch version: it has a plug on its cable, and we include a UK adaptor in the box, so it is ready for a UK socket.
