Description

The tallest of three Mawindi heights at 30cm, on the same flat disc foot 8cm across as the other two. The proportion changes with the height: the stem below the bead is the longest run of plain metal in the range, while the bead and the straight-sided cup above it stay the size they are on the 18cm. The iron is pitted and granular under a dark red-brown rust finish that sits deeper in the hollows than on the raised edges.

Thirty centimetres puts the flame above a sightline across any table, so this one belongs on a sideboard, a mantel or a hearth rather than between people at dinner. Standing with the 26cm and the 18cm it gives the tallest step in the row, and because all three share the 8cm foot the group sits evenly whichever order they are put in. It can be used indoors and outdoors.

Iron throughout, under a muted rust finish that is left rough rather than smoothed, so the tone varies along the stem and from one holder to the next. Mawindi runs at 18cm, 26cm and 30cm on the same foot, and at 0.435kg this is the heaviest of the three. The candle is not included.
