Description
The Matices is a 5-light glass cluster pendant from Schuller that suspends five 20cm blown-glass globes from a 55cm circular white canopy. Two globes are finished in champagne-gold amber glass, three in smoke-grey silver glass, each housing integrated LED modules that combine to deliver 30W total output at 3000K warm white and 2,408 lumens. The globes hang on slender chrome rods with adjustable cables, allowing drop heights to be set individually between 95cm and 250cm from the canopy to the base of each globe.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining areas and stairwells where cluster lighting is needed over a 1.5-2m surface width, the Matices works as both task and decorative lighting. The mixed-metal finish pairs warm amber tones with cooler silver, giving flexibility to complement both warm-wood and monochrome interiors without committing fully to either palette. The adjustable cables allow the cluster to be configured as a tight symmetrical group or a staggered cascade depending on ceiling height and the layout of the space below.
The integrated LED is powered by a TRIAC or 0-10V dimmable driver, compatible with most leading-edge LED dimmer switches. The IP20 rating limits the pendant to dry indoor use, and the Class 1 electrical rating requires an earth connection during installation. The white canopy measures 55cm diameter and sits flush to the ceiling, concealing the cable entry points and driver enclosure. At 3.91kg installed weight, the pendant requires a ceiling joist or suitable fixing into a solid substrate.
Each glass globe is individually mouth-blown, so slight variation in tone and bubble presence between globes is a characteristic of the production method rather than a defect. The chrome suspension rods are gravity-toggled to maintain plumb alignment once the cables are set, and the cables themselves lock into position with integrated cable grips inside the canopy.

Frequently Asked
Is the Matices dimmable?
Yes. The integrated LED driver is compatible with TRIAC and 0-10V dimming protocols. Use a leading-edge LED dimmer switch rated for the 30W load. Trailing-edge dimmers may cause flicker at lower brightness levels.
Can the drop height of each globe be adjusted individually?
Yes. Each of the five cables is independently adjustable from 95cm to 250cm, allowing you to configure the cluster as a tight group at uniform height or a staggered cascade with varied drop lengths. Cable grips inside the canopy lock each cable in position once set.
What surface width does the pendant suit?
The 55cm canopy diameter and spread of the globes typically suits surfaces 1.5-2m wide, such as kitchen islands or rectangular dining tables. For wider surfaces, two Matices pendants can be installed in sequence.
What's the difference between the amber and silver globes?
The amber globes are champagne-gold tinted glass; the silver globes are smoke-grey tinted glass. Both are mouth-blown, so slight variation in tone and internal bubbles between individual globes is normal and expected from the production process.
