Description
This pair of wooden salt and pepper grinders is made entirely of acacia. Each one is 21cm tall and 6.5cm across and topped with a round open loop you can hook a finger through. One carries an engraved S and the other an engraved P near the base, so there is no guessing which is which when dishes are being passed around. The body swells gently towards the bottom and narrows to a neck beneath the loop. The brown grain runs its own way on each grinder, with a paler streak of lighter wood down one side.
At 21cm tall they are easy to spot and reach across a dining table, while at 6.5cm across they sit neatly on a kitchen worktop or a narrow shelf near the cooker. Keep them by the chopping board for seasoning as you cook, then carry the pair to the table for Sunday lunch, a weeknight supper or a long evening with friends. The warm brown wood sits comfortably beside stoneware, linen and rustic ceramics, and it suits a farmhouse kitchen as readily as a pared back modern one. As a pair they also make a practical housewarming or wedding gift for someone setting up a first kitchen.
Acacia is a dense hardwood, and these grinders are finished with a polish of olive oil. They do not go in the dishwasher, the microwave or the oven, so keep them out of all three. Like most wood, acacia does best kept away from long soaking. The two pieces are sold together as a set, one for salt and one for pepper. For a tidy table, stand them side by side on a small wooden board or a shallow ceramic dish at the centre, with the S and P turned outwards so each is clear at a glance.

Frequently Asked
What are these grinders made of?
They are made entirely of acacia, a dense hardwood, and the maker finishes them with a polish of olive oil.
Can the grinders go in the dishwasher?
No. They should not go in the dishwasher, and they are not for the microwave or the oven either, so keep them away from all three.
How big are the grinders?
Each grinder is 21cm tall and 6.5cm across. That makes them tall enough to reach easily across a table and slim enough for a narrow shelf.
What is included?
You receive two grinders sold together as a set: one engraved with an S for salt and one engraved with a P for pepper.
Do both grinders look exactly the same?
They share the same shape and brown acacia wood, but the grain runs differently on each, with a paler streak of wood down one side.
