Description
We stock the Maris as an alabaster wall light that pairs a textured natural stone shade with a matt black metal bracket. The alabaster carries the veining and tonal variation you get from real stone, so warm honey and caramel tones run through a translucent cream base and no two shades look quite alike. It takes a single G9 capsule bulb up to 5W (sold separately), which sits behind the stone and pushes soft, ambient light outward and downward rather than sharp task light.
We think it suits hallways, bedrooms, living room accent walls and staircases, anywhere you want a gentle wash of light and a bit of natural texture on the wall. The black bracket holds the shade forward of the wall, so light passes through the stone and also spills onto the surface behind it. The matt black finish keeps things neutral and lets the alabaster tone lead, which is why it settles happily into contemporary, industrial and transitional rooms. Its compact size works well in narrower spots such as beside a doorway or flanking a mirror.
The Maris wires into standard UK mains at 230V AC 50Hz and is rated IP20, so keep it to dry interior locations only. The shade and bracket are natural alabaster and metal in a matt black finish. It is not dimmable, and the G9 bulb is not included, so you can choose your own colour temperature to suit the room. Because each shade is cut from a different section of the alabaster block, the veining and translucency will vary slightly from piece to piece.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Maris wall light take?
It takes one G9 capsule bulb up to 5W. The bulb is not included, so you can pick your own colour temperature, and we would suggest a warm white to make the most of the honey and caramel tones in the alabaster.
Is it dimmable?
No, the Maris is not dimmable, so we would not recommend wiring it to a dimmer switch. It gives a soft, steady ambient glow through the alabaster rather than adjustable brightness.
Can I use it in a bathroom?
We would keep it to dry interior locations only. It is rated IP20, which means it has no protection against moisture, so it is best suited to hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and staircases rather than bathrooms.
Will my shade look exactly like the photo?
Not exactly. Each shade is cut from a different part of the natural alabaster block, so the veining pattern and translucency vary slightly from piece to piece. That variation is part of using real stone.
