Description

The Marina is a small circular bulkhead light in solid brass with a raw brass finish, its frosted glass dome held by a front ring fixed with three screws. It measures 14cm across and sits just 5cm from the wall, so it reads as a neat brass disc rather than a lantern, and at 0.86KG it has a reassuring weight for its size. The frosted glass softens the light, so no bare bulb is on show. It is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water from any direction, so it can stay outdoors through British weather in every season.

Because it is so small and shallow, it suits places where a larger lantern would crowd the space: beside a front door, inside a porch, along a garden wall or on a boathouse. The maker says it is often used where a number of low level lights are needed, so several spaced along a wall give a gentle run of light at intervals. It also says its bulkheads are designed for outdoor settings that call for an industrial or nautical effect, and that the maritime influence shows in the range's materials, designs and even its names.

The body is solid brass in a raw finish, and solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors. The cable enters at the rear, so it can come straight through the wall behind the light with nothing running across the surface. It takes one G9 lamp of up to 25W, and the lamp is not included. The maker points out that a screwdriver is needed to change the lamp, which is why these lights are often chosen for public and commercial areas. As with any mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Keep a spare G9 lamp and a small screwdriver together, and a change is quick work.

Frequently Asked

Can the Marina bulkhead light go outdoors?

Yes. It is rated IP64, meaning it is dust-tight and protected from splashing water from any direction, so it can live on an outside wall in British weather.

What lamp does it take?

It takes one G9 lamp of up to 25W. The lamp is not included, so have one ready before the light is installed.

How big is the Marina?

It is 14cm across, projects just 5cm from the wall and weighs 0.86KG, so it suits tight spots beside a door or along a low wall.

Will the raw brass finish change colour outdoors?

Solid brass darkens and mellows outdoors, so over time the bright raw brass settles into a deeper, softer tone that many people prefer.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Its IP64 rating means it can be considered for a bathroom, and a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone before it is fitted.

Do I need a tool to change the lamp?

Yes. The maker says a screwdriver is needed to replace the lamp, which is why these bulkheads are often chosen for public and commercial areas.
