Description
A clear glass dome on a round mango wood base, 19.5cm across and 14cm to the top of the knob. The dome is squat rather than tall, with a rounded shoulder that flattens over the top and a solid glass knob drawn up from the centre as a handle. Its rim drops into a recess turned into the face of the board, so it locates rather than standing loose, and a band of bare wood is left proud around the outside. The glass is hand blown and the wall runs thicker in places, which shows as soft ripples across the curve.
The board is the serving surface and the dome comes off by the knob. A block of butter sits on the wood under the glass, or a single small cheese, which is the scale the piece is cut for. Because the glass is clear, what is under it stays in view, so it is a thing left out on a table or a worktop rather than shut in a cupboard. The dome covers the recess only, not the full width of the board.
The dome is recycled glass and the base is mango wood, finished natural. Each dome is hand blown, so the top varies a little from one piece to the next. The board is turned from a single piece with the grain running unbroken across the face, and mango takes a wide range of tone, so no two boards are alike. The dome and the board are sold together as one piece.

Frequently Asked
What fits under the dome?
A block of butter, or a single small cheese. The board is 19.5cm across and the dome stands 14cm to the top of the knob.
Is the glass recycled?
Yes. The waste glass is collected and washed to remove impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown or placed in moulds.
Is it food safe?
Yes.
How is it looked after?
The glass takes a gentle hand wash only, with a mild dish soap and a rinse in fresh water. Wash the mango wood board in warm soapy water after every use, rinse and dry it straight away and do not leave it to soak. The colour of the wood will change over time; an edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed into the surface with a dry cloth will nourish and protect it, though it will darken the tone.
Will every one look the same?
No. Each piece is hand blown and handmade, so there are slight variations in the top of the dome, and the grain of the board differs from one to the next.
