Description

The Maldon is a long, rectangular dining table that brings together an oak top and crossed iron legs. The oak is brown, with its grain clearly visible, so the top reads as wood rather than a flat block of colour, and the edge is bevelled on the underside, which makes the top look lighter from the side. At 200cm long, 95cm wide and 74cm tall it is a generous table for a dining room, and 74cm is a familiar height for sitting at. Seen face on, the legs at each end cross in an X, leaving the length beneath the top open for chairs and knees.

This is a table for a dining room or a roomy open-plan kitchen and living space, where it can be the place everyone gathers. The 200cm length gives room to spread out: a laptop and papers on a working day, homework after school, a jigsaw or board game at the weekend, and room for everyone to sit together when friends come round. The 95cm width leaves comfortable room across the table for people facing one another. The brown oak suits warm, natural rooms with rattan, rush and linen, and the iron legs keep it from looking heavy. The styling props shown are not included.

The top is oak and the legs are iron, and the maker gives a maximum load of 60KG for the table. It weighs 48KG, a substantial piece. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. Care is simple: wipe it clean with a moist cloth. Oak is a natural material, so the grain varies from one piece to the next and no two tops are quite alike. For styling, run a linen runner along the centre to follow its length, and mix chair styles, woven seats at the sides with upholstered chairs at the ends, for a relaxed, collected look.

Frequently Asked

What is the Maldon dining table made of?

The top is oak in brown, with the grain clearly visible across the surface, and the crossed legs at each end are iron.

How big is the Maldon dining table?

It is 200cm long, 95cm wide and 74cm tall, so it needs a dining room or open-plan space with room to pull chairs out around it.

How do I clean the oak top?

Wipe it clean with a moist cloth. Oak is a natural material, so the grain will vary slightly from one table to the next.

Does the table need assembling?

The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download, so you can read through how the table goes together before you start.

How much weight can the table hold?

The maker gives a maximum load of 60KG for the table. The table itself weighs 48KG, so it is a substantial piece to move into place.

Are the chairs included with the table?

No, it is sold as the table alone. The styling props shown are not included, and that covers the chairs as well.
