Description

The larger of the two Malana sizes, 14cm tall and 10cm across against the 9cm and 8cm of the small. The proportion changes with it: at 14cm the cylinder stands clearly taller than it is wide, where the small one is close to square in profile. It is ribbed top to bottom in close vertical flutes, the glass is a smoke brown, and the base is thicker than the wall above it with a band of small bubbles running through it.

The extra height is what it does differently. A tealight sits low in a 14cm cylinder, so the flame is enclosed and the light comes up the flutes rather than spilling sideways, and the brown deepens the further up the wall it travels. Stood beside the smaller size, the taller glass reads the darker of the pair. At 14cm it still clears a sightline across a laid table.

The glass is recycled. The smoke brown runs darker through the ribs and the thick base and lighter across the thin wall between them, so no two holders carry the colour the same way. Malana also runs at 9cm tall and 8cm across, and the two sizes stand together along the centre of a table. The tealight is not included.

Frequently Asked

What candle does it take?

A tealight, standing on the base inside.

How big is it?

14cm tall and 10cm across. Malana also runs at 9cm tall and 8cm across.

How does it differ from the small one?

5cm taller and 2cm wider, so the tealight sits further down and the flame is more enclosed.

Is it food safe?

No. It is for decorative use only, and it is neither dishwasher nor food safe.

How do I look after it?

Wash it with a mild dish soap and warm water after each use to clear wax, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off the finish. Position the tealight securely and keep the flame clear of the glass.

Does it get hot in use?

Yes. Keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
