Description

A low bench 120cm long, 50cm high and 30cm deep, built as a slim iron frame under a flat leather pad. The pad is tanned a mid brown that lightens along the creases, and it is tied to the frame at each end by a leather strap knotted round the rail rather than fixed to it. Below the seat the frame is left open and divided into three bays by upright bars, and a solid metal shelf runs the full length close to the floor. The iron carries an antique brass finish.

At 50cm the top sits at ordinary seat height, and at 30cm deep it is a bench to perch on rather than to sit back in. It stands against a hallway wall, and the lower shelf takes folded towels. That shelf is a solid sheet rather than slats and runs the whole 120cm, which takes a row of boots or a stack of baskets.

The frame is iron under an antique brass finish and the pad is tanned leather. Across the hide the colour runs deeper in the flat of the seat and lighter along the folds, which is the leather itself and not a print. The Mahi range also holds a console table, a side table, shelving units and several bathroom pieces in the same finish.
