Description

A tall narrow shelving unit built from square section iron, 170cm high, 46cm wide and 36cm deep. Six flat shelves are set into a slim open frame, spaced evenly from the floor to the top, with nothing at the back or the sides. The bar is smooth, with no hammering or texture worked into it, and the antique brass runs over the frame and the shelves alike, brighter along the edges of the bar and duller across the flat of each shelf. The four uprights carry on past the lowest shelf to form short feet.

At 170cm high and only 46cm wide it fills a narrow strip of wall: an alcove, the space beside a chimney breast, or a corner of a bathroom. With no back and no sides, the wall behind shows through it from every angle.

The whole unit is iron under an antique brass finish. The finish is laid over the metal and varies across it, so the depth of the brass differs from shelf to shelf and from one unit to the next. The Mahi range also holds a wider shelving unit at the same height, a console table, a side table, a bench and several bathroom pieces in the same finish.
