Description

The MagDuo is a 2-wire IP55-rated sounder housed in a 150mm square red polycarbonate enclosure with a central circular acoustic diffuser. The unit operates on a two-wire connection that carries both power and signal, simplifying installation compared to conventional four-wire systems that require separate power and trigger circuits.

Designed for external or internal alarm signalling where weatherproofing is required, the IP55 rating protects the internal electronics from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The red housing makes the sounder visible as a deterrent on exterior walls, car parks, loading bays, industrial yards and warehouse perimeters. The adjustable volume control allows the output level to be set according to ambient noise and local authority requirements.

The built-in end-of-line function monitors the circuit integrity without requiring a separate EOL resistor at the final device on the loop, reducing component count on multi-device installations. The device base is included and mounts to a standard UK single-gang back box or directly to masonry with the four visible screw points at each corner. The polycarbonate housing resists UV degradation and impact better than ABS alternatives in outdoor settings.

Frequently Asked

What does the IP55 rating mean?

IP55 certifies the sounder is dust-protected (not fully dust-tight, but ingress is limited to levels that won't interfere with operation) and can withstand low-pressure water jets from any direction. It is suitable for external use but not for direct submersion or high-pressure wash-down areas.

What is the advantage of 2-wire operation?

A 2-wire system carries both power and trigger signal on the same pair of conductors, reducing cable runs and installation time compared to 4-wire systems that require separate power and signal circuits. It simplifies wiring on multi-zone or multi-device alarm installations.

How is the volume adjusted?

The volume control is accessed inside the housing. Consult the product manual for the exact adjustment method and output range. Adjustment typically requires removing the front cover and using a small screwdriver to turn a potentiometer or rotary switch.

What is the end-of-line function?

The built-in EOL function monitors circuit integrity and reports back to the control panel if the loop is broken or tampered with. This eliminates the need to fit a separate end-of-line resistor at the last device on the loop, reducing component count and installation steps.

Shipping & Returns

Free worldwide delivery

Free worldwide delivery on all orders over £99. International orders for third-party brand products may be subject to an additional courier surcharge based on volumetric weight, particularly on larger lighting fixtures — if a surcharge applies, our team will email you with the amount before dispatch and you can proceed or cancel for a full refund. See full delivery terms.

Returns

30-day returns window from delivery. As all our products are electrical or lighting goods, returned items must be inspected and recertified by a qualified electrician before resale — the cost of this inspection (25–40% of the item value) is deducted from your refund.
