Description
Our Madge storage jar is white stoneware worked into rows of raised, rounded bubbles that run from the base right up to the rim, with a glossy surface that catches the light on every one. It is 17cm across and 27cm tall and holds 2550ml, a generous size for the dry staples you buy in bulk rather than a little pot for spices. The lid is acacia wood with a round wooden knob on top to lift it by, and the whole piece weighs 1.91KG.
It belongs in the kitchen, and it is made to hold food, so pasta, rice, oats, sugar, coffee beans or biscuits can go straight in. Kept out on an open shelf, a dresser or the top of a cabinet, it keeps everyday ingredients within reach without a row of packets on show. The bubbled outline is soft and playful, so it sits as happily in a farmhouse kitchen as in a pared-back modern one, and at its height it holds its own beside a bread bin or a stand mixer. Away from the kitchen, it is a handy home for cotton wool and bath salts in the bathroom.
The body is stoneware and the lid acacia, with a silicone rim around the edge of the lid where it meets the jar. Acacia is a hardwood with a strong, varied grain, so no two lids carry quite the same pattern. The jar is not for the microwave or the oven, so keep it for storage rather than heating anything in it. For styling, give it room on an open shelf with a wooden board or a glass oil bottle beside it, where the white bubbles and the wood of the lid can be seen together; the styling props shown are not included.

Frequently Asked
How much does the jar hold?
It holds 2550ml and is 17cm across and 27cm tall, a generous size for pasta, rice, oats, sugar or a good supply of biscuits.
What is the jar made of?
The jar is stoneware and the lid is acacia wood with a silicone rim; by composition it is 80% stoneware, 19% acacia and 1% silicone.
Can I put it in the microwave or the oven?
No. The maker says it is not for the microwave or the oven, so keep it for storing dry goods rather than heating anything in it.
Can I keep food in it?
Yes. The maker approves it for food, so dry staples such as flour, pasta, coffee beans or biscuits can go straight into the jar.
Does the lid come off completely?
Yes. The acacia lid lifts right off by its round wooden knob, and a silicone rim runs around its edge where it meets the jar.
How heavy is the jar?
The jar and its acacia lid together weigh 1.91KG, as the maker gives it, before anything is put inside.
