Description

The LYYT 180 LED string light runs 180 warm white concave LEDs along an 18m lit length on a heavy-duty UV-resistant black rubber cable. The set draws 7W total from 220-240V mains and carries an IP44 rating for protected outdoor use in UK weather. The concave LED heads spread a soft glow rather than directing pinpoint light.

Designed for year-round outdoor installation on garden fences, pergolas, shopfronts, marquee frames and courtyard walls, the string light suits both permanent domestic setups and temporary event lighting. The 1.5m lead cable from the plug to the first LED gives flexibility on power source placement, while the rubber cable resists UV degradation better than PVC alternatives in direct sunlight. Each set can connect to up to five additional sets (six sets total from a single plug) via the plug-and-socket connectors built into each run.

The 100mm spacing between LEDs balances coverage and density — close enough for consistent wash light across the run, but far enough apart to avoid clustered hotspots. At 1.3kg for the full 19.5m set, the cable has enough weight to hang taut without sagging noticeably between fixing points on horizontal runs. Can this be left outdoors permanently?

The IP44 rating protects the LEDs and cable from water splashes and solid objects over 1mm. It can be left outdoors year-round in typical UK weather, but should not be submerged and benefits from being unplugged during prolonged heavy rain or storms. The UV-resistant rubber cable is rated for direct sunlight exposure without degrading.

How many sets can be connected together?

Up to six sets total from a single plug. Each set includes plug-and-socket connectors at either end to allow daisy-chaining. Connecting six sets gives 108m of lit length and 1,080 LEDs from one mains outlet.

Are the lights dimmable or controllable?

No. These are static warm white LEDs with no dimming or flashing modes. They provide a constant glow when powered. If you need controllable lighting, look for string light sets with integrated controllers.

What fixing method works best for horizontal runs?

Cable clips or hooks spaced every 1-1.5m along the run keep the cable taut without sagging. The 1.3kg weight means the cable will sag slightly between fixing points, so closer spacing works better for fence-top or pergola installations where you want an even horizontal line.
