Description

The LumiLife microwave and daylight sensor is a control accessory designed for integration with LED high bay and low bay lights. The sensor combines passive infrared detection with an adjustable daylight threshold, automatically switching connected high bay lights on when movement is detected in low ambient light conditions and switching them off after a preset delay when the space is unoccupied.

Designed for industrial, warehouse, retail stockroom and commercial storage installations where ceiling heights prevent manual switching and where maintaining constant light would waste energy during unoccupied periods. The sensor mounts directly to the high bay light or to a ceiling junction box, with wiring connection simplified by the included junction box enclosure. The microwave detection covers a wider field than standard PIR sensors and can detect movement through non-metallic barriers.

The sensor housing carries an IP65 rating, protecting internal components from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets during cleaning or weathering in semi-exposed locations. Adjustment of the daylight threshold and time delay requires a Merrytek remote control (sold separately), allowing installers to set trigger points without accessing the sensor after installation. The sensor is approved for use in Zones 1, 2 and 3 under ATEX classifications but not Zone 0.

Frequently Asked

Does this sensor work with all LED high bay lights?

The LumiLife sensor is designed specifically for integration with LumiLife LED high bay and low bay lights. Compatibility with other brands depends on the wiring configuration and control protocol of the high bay light. Contact us before purchasing if you intend to use this sensor with a non-LumiLife high bay.

How is the sensor adjusted after installation?

Adjustment of the daylight threshold, time delay and detection sensitivity requires a Merrytek remote control, sold separately. The remote allows settings to be changed without physically accessing the sensor once it is mounted at ceiling height.

What is the difference between microwave and PIR detection?

Microwave sensors emit a low-power radio frequency signal and detect movement by sensing changes in the reflected signal. This allows detection through non-metallic barriers such as partition walls and covers a wider field than passive infrared sensors, but may also pick up movement outside the intended detection zone if not calibrated correctly.

What zone classifications does this sensor support?

The sensor is approved for use in Zones 1, 2 and 3 under ATEX hazardous area classifications. It is not suitable for Zone 0 environments where explosive atmospheres are continuously present.
