Description
The LumiLife Polo is a 16W outdoor bulkhead fitting with an integrated microwave motion sensor and adjustable colour temperature switching between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 6500K cool white. The circular polycarbonate diffuser sits on an ABS plastic base and is rated IP65 for protection against dust ingress and water jets, making it suitable for external walls, garage entrances, garden pathways and covered porches.
Designed for automatic security and convenience lighting, the microwave sensor detects movement through walls and non-metallic materials within a typical 5-8m range, switching the light on when motion is detected and off after a set period of inactivity. The CCT adjustment allows the colour temperature to be selected during installation to match other exterior lighting or to suit different times of year, with warm white often preferred for residential entrances and cool white used for security applications where clarity and alertness are priorities.
The 16W LED produces between 1200lm and 1600lm depending on the selected colour temperature, with the highest output at 6500K and the lowest at 3000K. The 115-degree beam angle provides wide coverage from a single fitting, reducing the number of bulkheads needed to light a path or wall section. The polycarbonate diffuser is impact-resistant and UV-stable, holding clarity over the rated 50,000-hour lifespan without yellowing or hazing. The fitting operates on standard 220-240V mains and mounts directly to a flat surface with screws through the base.

Frequently Asked
How does the microwave sensor work?
The integrated microwave sensor detects movement through non-metallic surfaces within approximately 5-8m range, triggering the light to switch on. Detection range and sensitivity typically adjust via controls on the fitting. The sensor works through walls and doors, unlike passive infrared (PIR) sensors that require line of sight.
Can the colour temperature be changed after installation?
Yes. The CCT adjustment switch on the fitting allows selection between 3000K, 4000K and 6500K. This can be changed at any time by removing the diffuser cover and toggling the switch, though it typically requires turning off mains power first.
Is it suitable for coastal or high-humidity locations?
The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust, making it suitable for most outdoor UK residential applications including coastal areas. However, direct salt spray exposure or submersion is not covered by IP65. For extreme coastal exposure, consider applying a protective coating to metal fixings to prevent corrosion.
What bathroom zones can it be used in?
The fitting is rated for bathroom zones 3, 2 and 1, meaning it can be installed above a bath or shower cubicle but not inside the bath or shower tray itself (zone 0). The IP65 rating provides adequate protection for splash zones.
