Description

The Lucera is a 250mm outdoor wall light with a curved brown powder-coated aluminium frame and a white acrylic diffuser panel. The die-cast aluminium body is rated IP44 for splash resistance, making it suitable for exterior walls exposed to rain but not direct water jets. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits behind the diffuser, casting light both downwards and outwards.

Designed for exterior entrances, porch areas, garden walls and pathway lighting where a contemporary low-profile fitting is needed, the Lucera projects 120mm from the wall and spans 250mm horizontally. The curved top and bottom edges of the brown frame create a softer profile than rectangular bulkhead lights, while the white acrylic diffuser spreads the light evenly to reduce harsh shadows on steps or doorways.

The brown powder-coated finish on the aluminium resists corrosion and fading better than painted metal, and pairs well with brick, render and timber cladding in earth tones. The fitting is dimmable when paired with a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible outdoor dimmer switch. Ideal Lux backs the Lucera with a 5-year warranty.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. It can be mounted on exterior walls exposed to rain but should not be positioned where it will receive direct water jets from a hose or be submerged.

What bulb should I use?

The Lucera takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-12W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambiance. Choose a dimmable E27 LED if you plan to use a dimmer switch.

Can it be mounted on a brick wall?

Yes. The fitting mounts to a standard outdoor back box via two fixing screws visible in the mounting plate. Use appropriate wall plugs for brick, render or timber depending on your wall type.

How is the die-cast aluminium different from pressed steel?

Die-cast aluminium is cast in a mould under pressure, creating a thicker, more rigid structure than pressed sheet steel. It resists corrosion better in coastal or high-humidity environments and holds the powder-coat finish more durably over time.
