Lucent LED Square Surface Downlight - White 75mm

The Lucent is a 75mm square surface-mounted LED downlight with a matt white aluminium housing and an integrated 3000K LED light source. The compact square profile measures 75mm x 75mm on the face with a low projection from the ceiling, designed for surface mounting where recessed downlights cannot be used due to ceiling void depth or construction type.

Designed for hallways, corridors, bathrooms (away from shower zones — IP20 rated only), utility rooms and low-ceiling spaces, the Lucent provides directional downlighting without requiring a ceiling cut-out. The fixed beam angle and internal plastic diffuser distribute light evenly across the floor below, minimising harsh shadows and hotspots. The surface-mount configuration means it can be fitted onto plasterboard, solid ceilings or suspended ceiling tiles where wiring access exists above.

The matt white finish on the aluminium housing matches standard ceiling paint tones and recedes visually once installed, allowing the downlight to function without drawing attention to the fitting itself. The integrated LED is non-dimmable and operates on 230V mains, eliminating the need for separate drivers or transformers in most installations. The 3000K colour temperature produces warm white light that sits between daylight-toned task lighting and the warmer tones of traditional incandescent bulbs.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

The Lucent carries an IP20 rating, which means it is suitable for dry indoor environments only. It can be used in bathrooms provided it is installed outside shower zones (typically Zone 0, 1 and 2 as defined by UK wiring regulations). For positions directly above or adjacent to showers and baths, an IP44 or IP65 rated downlight is required.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the housing and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 30,000 hours of operation, which equates to around 10-15 years of typical residential use. When the LED reaches end of life, the entire fitting is replaced.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

This is a surface-mounted downlight, so no ceiling void or cut-out is required. The fitting mounts directly onto the ceiling surface with the wiring concealed inside the 75mm-deep housing. The only requirement is access to mains wiring at the mounting point.

Can it be installed on a sloped ceiling?

The Lucent is designed for horizontal ceiling mounting. It can be installed on a sloped ceiling, but the fixed beam angle means the light will project at an angle rather than straight down, which may create uneven floor coverage depending on the slope angle.
