Description

The Lucent is an 8cm diameter LED surface downlight in matt white, built around a cylindrical aluminium body that mounts directly to the ceiling without needing a recessed void. A 25W integrated LED inside casts 3000K warm white light downwards through a plastic diffuser ring at the base, which softens beam edges and reduces glare.

Designed for surface mounting in hallways, WCs, shower rooms, walk-in wardrobes and accent positions where a recessed downlight isn't practical, the Lucent provides focused task light from a compact 80mm-diameter footprint. The cylinder projects approximately 100mm from the ceiling once fitted, so it suits rooms with at least 2.4m ceiling height to avoid head clearance issues. The IP20 rating limits it to dry indoor areas — for bathrooms outside Zone 3 or shower rooms, choose an IP44-rated alternative.

The matt white aluminium finish pairs with white ceilings to reduce visual impact, letting the light function dominate the fitting's presence. The 25W output is brighter than typical 6-10W decorative downlights, making it suitable for primary illumination in small rooms or secondary task lighting in larger spaces. The integrated LED is non-replaceable and rated for approximately 30,000 hours, equivalent to around 10 years of domestic use at 8 hours per day.

Multiple Lucent units can be grouped in a grid or linear arrangement to provide even coverage in corridors or retail displays. The fitting mounts to a standard ceiling rose or junction box with screws through the base plate, and the white finish conceals minor fitting imperfections during installation.

No. The integrated LED driver does not support dimming. If dimming is required, consider a driver-compatible LED downlight with separate control gear.

What's the projection from the ceiling?

The cylindrical body projects approximately 100mm below the ceiling surface once surface-mounted. This makes it suitable for standard 2.4m ceiling heights but may cause head clearance issues in rooms with lower ceilings or sloped attics.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The IP20 rating limits the Lucent to dry indoor areas. It can be used in bathrooms outside Zone 3 (more than 600mm from the bath or shower), but not directly above bathtubs or shower trays. For wet zones, choose an IP44 or IP65-rated downlight.

Can the LED be replaced?

No. The LED is integrated and non-replaceable. The unit is rated for approximately 30,000 hours, equivalent to around 10 years at 8 hours per day. When the LED reaches end of life, the entire fitting is replaced.
