Description
The Lucent is an 8cm diameter surface-mounted LED downlight built around an aluminium cylinder body finished in matt black, housing an integrated 25W 3000K LED. A precision lens inside the fitting directs the light downwards in a focused beam, while a plastic inner mask diffuses the edge of the beam to prevent harsh cut-off shadows on ceilings and walls.
Designed for surface mounting rather than recessing, the Lucent suits low-ceiling spaces where cutting into the ceiling structure is not possible, or where a visible fitting is preferred for architectural effect. The 8cm diameter and compact projection make it suited to corridors, cloakrooms, small kitchens and utility rooms, or in multiples spaced across larger open-plan areas to create layered ambient and task lighting without the visual bulk of larger surface fittings.
The matt black aluminium body absorbs reflections and blends into dark-painted ceilings, or provides a defined accent against white or light-grey ceilings. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry indoor locations only. The 3000K colour temperature provides warm-white light that suits residential and hospitality interiors, while the 25W output delivers focused task lighting without the heat and maintenance cycles of halogen equivalents.
The Lucent is non-dimmable and wired directly to mains 230V lighting circuits. The integrated LED is designed for a long service life, reducing the need for lamp replacement compared to GU10 or MR16 fittings. Ideal Lux provides a 5-year warranty covering the LED driver and light engine.

Frequently Asked
Can this be installed on low ceilings?
Yes. The Lucent is a surface-mounted downlight, meaning it fixes directly to the ceiling surface without needing to be recessed into the void above. This makes it ideal for low-ceiling spaces, solid ceilings, or rooms where recessing is not structurally feasible.
Is the LED replaceable?
The LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED driver and light engine are designed for a long service life and are covered by a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux.
What is the beam angle?
The precision lens creates a focused downward beam. The exact beam angle is not listed in the specification table, but typical surface-mounted downlights of this type produce a narrow to medium beam (25-40 degrees), concentrating light below the fitting rather than spreading it wide.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the Lucent is suitable for dry indoor locations only and does not carry protection against water ingress. For bathroom lighting, look for fittings rated IP44 or higher.
