Description

The Lola is a recessed LED downlight with a difference: rather than sitting flush, its slim white cylinder drops below a round canopy on a short stem, so the light comes from a neat tube instead of a hole in the ceiling. The head is 5.2cm across and 20.3cm long, and the canopy is 8cm across and 8.2cm high. The LED is integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and it sits well back inside the tube behind a black inner ring. It is rated at 18W and gives 1995 lumens through a 24° beam, a focused pool of light rather than a broad wash.

We would put it in a kitchen, in a row over an island or a dining table, where that narrow beam picks out the surface without flooding the whole room. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It comes in two colour temperatures, 2700K for a warm, relaxed light or 3000K for a slightly crisper white, so you can choose the version that suits the space. With a colour rendering index of 85, food and fabrics look natural under it for everyday cooking and eating.

It is wired in to the mains by an electrician, and it needs a 6.5cm cut-out in the ceiling. It is dimmable by DALI or push, so pair it with a compatible DALI or push dimming control and you can take it from bright task light down to a soft evening glow. The white finish covers both the head and the canopy, and the slim proportions keep it quiet on a white ceiling, even when several are grouped together. Each fitting comes in one colour temperature, so choose 2700K or 3000K when you order and keep the same choice across a room for an even, consistent light.
