Description

This tray is a round iron piece raised on a flared pedestal foot, and its whole top surface is embossed. A sunburst medallion sits at the centre, ringed by raised leaf and petal motifs that spread out to a plain rim, with a fine stippled texture filling the spaces between them. It measures 25cm across and stands 9.5cm tall, so it is wide enough to carry a small group of objects yet low enough to sit in front of a mirror without crowding it. The finish is silver all over, and the embossing catches the light as you move around it. At 0.42KG it is light to lift and move.

Because the top is lifted clear of the surface, it gives whatever sits on it a little height, which is why we like it as a centrepiece on a dining table or a sideboard. On a dressing table it keeps rings, earrings and a watch together in one place; in a hallway it is a tidy landing spot for keys.
