Description

The Linear is a long, slim ceiling canopy that hangs five pendants in a straight line from one point on the ceiling. It is 76cm long, 7.5cm wide and 3.7cm tall, so it reads as a neat strip overhead rather than a bulky box. It gives no light of its own. Instead a 30W driver is built in, feeding the pendants hung from it at 24V DC, so there is no separate driver to buy or to find room for. It comes in six finishes: White, Black, Brushed Champagne, Matt Black, Brushed Bronze and Brushed Brass.

To make it work you need up to five pendants, each sold separately, to hang from its five outlets: they give the light, and the canopy feeds each one at 24V DC. We like a row of pendants on one bar wherever a long surface wants even light along its length, such as over a dining table, a long sideboard or a desk run in a study, or down a hallway or landing. Choose the finish to match the pendants or to sit quietly against the ceiling: White disappears on a pale ceiling, while Brushed Brass or Brushed Bronze makes the bar part of the look. It is for dry rooms indoors.

The canopy runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician, so one ceiling supply serves all five pendants. It is not dimmable, so the pendants are simply on or off. The brushed finishes, Brushed Champagne, Brushed Bronze and Brushed Brass, carry a soft grain, while White, Black and Matt Black are plain and even. One practical note before you order: the built-in driver is rated at 30W, a figure worth having to hand when you choose the pendants to hang from it. Our photographs show the white version.

No. A 30W driver is built into the canopy and feeds the pendants at 24V DC. The canopy itself runs on 230V mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician.

Can the Linear ceiling canopy be dimmed?

No. This canopy is not dimmable, so the pendants hung from it are simply switched on or off rather than dimmed.

What finishes does the canopy come in?
