Description

This small glass bowl is 11.5cm across and 6cm tall, its pink body scattered all over with dense speckles of colour. The glass is translucent, so light comes through the flecks and the bowl looks bright even on a plain table. It holds 275ml, which makes it a snack, dip or dessert bowl rather than a cereal bowl: right for a scoop of ice cream, a handful of olives or a portion of yoghurt and fruit. At 0.274KG it is light to hold and easy to pass along a table.

At breakfast it suits yoghurt, berries or granola; at supper it takes a dip, a sauce or a small side of salad or pickles. When friends visit, a few placed along the table hold nuts, crisps and sweets within easy reach of everyone, and the speckled glass brings colour to plain tableware without any fuss. It sits happily on a pale plate as a little dish for butter, chutney or a dessert of sorbet, and it is a comfortable size for a child's pudding. Between meals it can hold rings and keys on a dressing table or hall shelf.

The bowl is made entirely of glass. It goes in the dishwasher, which keeps everyday use simple, but it does not go in the microwave or the oven, so warm food in another dish first and spoon it into the bowl once ready.
