Description

This set of three wall hooks brings a small flock of birds to a bare stretch of wall. Each bird is cut from MDF in a flat, simple outline, painted in its own shade of brown and finished with fine drawn lines for the feathers, a small eye and a pointed beak. One flies with its wings raised, one perches with its tail stretched out behind it, and the third sits upright with its eyes closed, as if dozing. Beneath each body sits a round peg that does the hanging. Each bird is 10cm wide, a friendly, child-sized hook rather than a grown-up coat rack.

As children's storage, they belong in a nursery or a child's bedroom, where a tote bag, a dressing gown, a sun hat or a favourite soft toy with a loop can hang neatly instead of ending up on the floor. Hung in a row at the same height, they look like birds resting along a branch; staggered, they seem to be flying across the wall. They work just as well in a family hallway for small bags and scarves, or in a playroom next to a reading nook.
