Description

We stock the Levitation as a 258mm pendant that pairs an opal glass sphere with a brass wirework cage. The vertical ribs of the cage curve around the glass, forming an open frame that lets the light through while framing the diffuser inside. It hangs on a black fabric cable from a matching brass ceiling rose, and takes a single E27 bulb up to 40W (sold separately), so you can pick the warmth and output that suit the room.

We like this one over a kitchen island, a dining table or in an entrance hall, where it works as both ambient and decorative lighting. The opal glass softens the bulb into an even glow without harsh glare, while the brass cage throws gentle shadow patterns onto nearby walls when lit. The wirework also gives the fitting a lighter look than a solid shade of the same size, so it sits comfortably in both traditional and contemporary rooms.

The drop length is set during installation by shortening the cable inside the ceiling rose, so you can hang it at the height you need above a worktop or table. It runs on 220-240V mains, carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor rooms, and the brass reads as a warm gold tone. Dimming depends on the bulb you fit, since the fitting itself has no integrated LED. If you want the wider 345mm size or the integrated LED version, we list those separately in the same Levitation range.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does it take?

It takes a single E27 bulb up to 40W, which is sold separately. A 6-10W LED or a 40W filament bulb both suit the opal glass, so you can choose the warmth and brightness you prefer.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting has no integrated LED, so dimming depends on the bulb you fit. Pair a dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer switch (both sold separately) if you want to adjust the level.

Where can I use it?

It carries an IP20 rating, so it is made for dry indoor rooms such as kitchens, dining rooms and hallways. We would not fit it in a bathroom or any damp or outdoor spot.

How is this different from the other Levitation pendants?

This is the 258mm version that takes a replaceable E27 bulb. We also list a larger 345mm size and a version with an integrated LED, both in the same Levitation range in brass.
