Description

We stock the Lens in black as a 12W recessed downlight with a tiltable head, set in a slim black aluminium trim ring. The integrated LED gives 760 lumens of warm white light at 3000K through a 70 degree beam, and with a CRI of 90 it renders skin tones and fabric colours accurately. It runs on standard UK mains at 220-240V and is not dimmable.

Because the head tilts, you can angle the light towards a wall, artwork or a specific work area rather than pointing it straight down. The IP44 rating means it copes with moisture, so it suits bathroom zone 2 as well as kitchens, utility rooms and covered outdoor soffits. The black trim keeps a low profile once fitted and works well in contemporary, industrial and darker interiors.

The Lens is designed for recessed installation and needs roughly 100mm of ceiling void behind it for the housing and driver. At 760 lumens the output is close to a 60W halogen downlight but draws far less power and gives off less heat. The trim ring sits neatly against the ceiling for a tidy, unobtrusive finish.

Frequently Asked

Is this downlight dimmable?

No. The Lens runs on standard UK mains at 220-240V and is not dimmable, so it should be wired to a standard switch rather than a dimmer.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

Yes. It carries an IP44 rating, which makes it suitable for bathroom zone 2, as well as kitchens, utility rooms and covered outdoor soffits where some moisture protection is needed.

How much ceiling space do I need to fit it?

Allow around 100mm of ceiling void behind the opening for the housing and driver. It is designed for recessed installation into a ceiling.

Can I angle the light?

Yes. The head tilts, so once it is fitted you can direct the beam towards a wall, artwork or a task area rather than leaving it pointing straight down.
