Description

This is a pair of Christmas candle holders in hand-painted dolomite ceramic, each one modelled as a sweet from a festive tin. One is a striped candy cane that curls over at the top and rises from a scalloped, dotted base dressed with little wrapped sweets; the other is a round sweet painted with concentric stripes, standing on a dimpled, domed foot. Both carry a cup at the top for the candle. One holder is 11cm tall and 6.5cm across, the other 8.5cm tall and 7cm across, so they make an uneven pair, with the candy cane standing taller. The colourway is multicoloured, and the stripes give the pair its playful, old-fashioned sweet-shop look.

Sold as a set of two, they are made for the Christmas season: along a mantelpiece, at the centre of a festive table, on a sideboard in the hall or on a deep windowsill.
