Description

We stock the Lactea as a cordless table lamp for outdoor use where there is no mains power. It is a 140mm aluminium sphere in matt black, with a 1W LED inside giving 102 lumens of warm white (3000K) light through a frosted lower hemisphere, and a solar panel set into the top that charges the built-in 3.7V rechargeable battery through the day.

We use it on outdoor dining tables, patios, balconies and garden seating where running a cable is not practical. The panel gathers daylight during the day and the lamp lights the table after dark, so there is no wiring and nothing to plug in. A small loop on the back lets you hang it from a hook if you would rather lift the light off the table.

The light is dimmable from a touch control on the side, so you can take it from the full 102 lumens down to a soft glow depending on whether you want it for eating or for background light. The IP54 rating protects it from rain, dust and hose spray, so it copes with typical UK weather, though we would keep it clear of standing water. The aluminium body and matt black powder-coated finish stand up to sun and temperature changes, and you can leave it out or bring it in over winter.
