This rocking sheep is a soft toy and a ride in one: a curly white polyester body set on a pair of curved poplar wood rockers. It measures 65cm long, 34cm wide and 48cm tall, a compact size that fits easily in a nursery or beside a sofa. Its face is a sleepy one, with closed eyes and a small smile, framed by floppy ears, and a tufted tail finishes the back. A wooden handle on each side of its head gives small hands something to hold.

It belongs wherever a child plays: the nursery, a playroom, a bedroom or the living room, where it looks as much like a soft furnishing as a toy. At 2.8KG it is light enough for a grown-up to carry from room to room, so it can follow the family through the day. Between rides it makes a cuddly seat for teddies and a quiet piece of decoration on a rug or beside a reading nook.
