Description

The Konnie wall light hangs a ribbed glass globe from a swan neck. The arm rises off a round wall plate, curves forward and comes back down to a brass gallery that grips the globe from above. The globe is clear, ribbed from the collar down to the base and open at the foot, and the brass is bright rather than antiqued. It stands 32cm tall and reaches 31cm from the wall.

Because the globe hangs below the arm rather than sitting on top of it, the light falls from a point lower than the fixing, and the open base sends it straight down as well as out through the ribbed sides. That puts it to work either side of a mirror at face height, or along a wall where the curve of the neck is read in profile. It takes one G9 bulb up to 25W and it is dimmable. It is rated IP44, which covers splashing. The cord runs 70cm.

The globe is glass and the neck, plate and gallery are metal finished in brass. Three knurled thumbscrews clamp the globe into the gallery and are left on show rather than concealed. Each globe is moulded, so the ribs and the wall thickness differ between fittings. The Konnie range also holds a ceiling light built around the same ribbed globe. Bulbs are not included.

Frequently Asked

What is a G9 bulb?

A small capsule bulb with two short pins rather than a screw or a bayonet cap. It pushes straight into the holder, and it is what keeps the fitting inside the globe small enough not to fill it.

How far does it come off the wall?

31cm, because the neck curves out before it turns down. Beside a mirror that is usually what you want, since it brings the light forward of the glass rather than behind you.

Can the globe be taken off?

Yes. Three knurled screws around the gallery hold it, and they turn by hand.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off, let it cool, then a dry microfibre cloth over the ribs. No abrasives and no harsh chemicals on the brass.
